Texas License To Carry (LTC) Course

Although Texas no longer requires the LTC to carry your handgun, there are advantages to having the LTC that those without one do not have. These advantages include campus carry, school zone carry, trespass protection, protection if carrying past no gun signs, expedited processing when purchasing a firearm as well as the ability to carry in over 30 states (Reciprocity).

There are two options to obtain your LTC.

1. Complete the entire course, in-person with an instructor. This is done in the traditional classroom/range environment.
2. Complete the classroom portion online. This gives you the option to complete the classroom requirements at your own pace. Once complete, print out your certificate and contact us to complete the range/shooting qualification.

MSD Defense offers both the in-person and online portion. The online portion is hosted by Texas Carry Academy through our site.

Class is limited to 10-students. Class starts at 9:00am.

A minimum of 4 students is required to schedule the in-person class Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday.

There is NO minimum number of students required to schedule the in-person class on Sunday and Mondays.  

The LTC Qualification can be scheduled 7-days a week for any number of shooters. 

Course location: Right to Carey 108 Gateway Hills Lane Granbury, Texas 76049. Located at Carey and Sons Marine.

Cost: In-person course Per person $100.00.

Online classroom portion $49.00. Select online classes in the drop-down menu to sign up. Once complete print your certificate and contact us to schedule the range/shooting qualification.

Shooting qualification $20.00 (IF online portion done through us).

Shooting qualification $40.00 (IF online portion done through another site).

Items Needed:

• Semi-auto handgun or revolver in good working order.
• A minimum of one magazine (More is ok).  No speed loaders are needed if using a revolver.
• 50 rounds of factory (FMJ) ammo.  NO reloads, remanufactured or hollow-points.
• No optical enhancers that magnify the target or lasers.
• Optics that do not magnify the target are allowed (Green dots, red dots etc.).
• Long or short sleeved shirt (NO tank tops).
• Closed toed shoes.
• Eye and ear protection.  We have some if needed.

If you do not have a handgun we have several 9mm’s that you can use at no additional charge. You will need to provide the ammunition.

A $40.00 deposit is required to reserve your seat for the in-person class. Remaining balance is due on the day of the class.  We accept Zelle, Venmo and cash.  If you need another payment method contact us.  

Private classes are available at no additional cost.
